Why Prospective Clinical Validation Matters
When evaluating a new blood pressure technology, accuracy claims are only part of the story. How a technology is tested matters, too.

That’s why prospective validation represented an important milestone in the development of Biozen’s cuffless blood pressure platform.
Testing the technology as built
That distinction matters because prospective evaluation tests a predetermined system against reference measurements rather than allowing the technology to be continually adjusted in response to the data being collected.
Biozen’s study evaluated 264 participants under a protocol based on ISO 81060-2:2018, the internationally recognized standard used to evaluate noninvasive blood pressure devices.
Across the study, 770 measurements were collected to evaluate Biozen’s cuffless, calibration-free approach under the recognized validation framework.
Designed for diversity
Evaluating emerging sensing technologies also requires understanding how they perform across different populations.
Biozen’s study therefore included increased representation of participants with Fitzpatrick V and VI skin tones and Obesity Classes I and II.
Building confidence through evidence
Innovation in blood pressure technology is accelerating. As new approaches move beyond the traditional arm cuff, rigorous clinical evaluation becomes increasingly important.
For Biozen, prospective validation wasn’t simply a development milestone. It was part of a larger commitment to building a blood pressure platform grounded in physiology, clinical evidence and measurable performance.
That foundation now supports something even larger: bringing calibration-free, clinically credible blood pressure measurement into the next generation of health technology.
